The factors influencing predator-prey cycles is one of the most basic questions in ecology. We are using trapping records from the Hudson Bay Company to try and determine if we can (1) detect prey switching in mink and (2) use simple deterministic predator-prey models (Turchin and Hanski) to accurately model dynamics where the predator can switch between prey as the prey density changes.
