Welcome to my personal home page. After a significant time in the College of Science & Technology Dean's office, I am now back again in the Department of Mathematics at Central Michigan University.
If I can be of help in any way, please contact me via any mode (email, fax, paper mail or phone). Or just stop by for a visit. You are always welcome.
The course that I am assigned this summer is Math 217, Business Calculus. Most all of the information for the class is on the CMU BlackBoard website. For Fall, I am currently assigned MTH 217 again as well as MTH 332. See the links below for other courses which I have taught.
I received my Ph.D. in Mathematics from Ohio State University in 1971, four years after a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Michigan State University. I joined the Mathematics Department at Central Michigan University in 1971. In 1984 I moved to the Computer Science Department and became associate chair. I was chairperson of computer science from June, 1985 to July, 1986 and then moved to Florida Institute of Technology as department head of Applied Mathematics/Computer Science/Operations Research. I returned to CMU in 1988 and in 1989-93 was again the associate chair of the computer science department. In Fall, 1994 I was appointed Assistant to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. In 1997, I was appointed Associate Dean of the newly formed College of Science & Technology. In July, 2002, I was named interim dean of the college for one year, while the dean moves up to serve as interim provost for CMU. I returned to associate deandom and remained as such until December, 2006. I am now full time in the Math Department.
My teaching interests are quite diverse with a particular interest in lower division service courses in mathematics. These courses serve a great need and are often most challenging. In additions to papers and conference presentations, I publish two calculus study guides (multiple versions and editions of each) and coauthored six editions of a defining work in the transition to advanced mathematics field. Further details are in my vita. Sorry, it is out of date; I will update soon.
