Macs & connecting to CST-SERVER
- This guide is a work-in-progress, and is by no means 100% accurate or
finished!!!
- Macs running OSX are capable of connecting to the server. If your Mac is
still running Mac OS9, you are unable to connect to the server until I have
upgraded your machine and configured it.
- Once your computer is converted to OSX AND configured for Active
Directory authentication, the necessary volumes will automatically mount on
your desktop for you when you logon to the computer. You will then not
need to follow these instructions any more.
- From the Finder's "Go" menu, select "Connect to Server..."
- In the "Connect to Server" window, type in for the server address:
smb://cst-server.cst.cmich.edu/sharename
Most common sharenames will either be "Data" or "globalid$".
- Click the "Connect" button.
- For the SMB/CIFS Filesystem Authentication, type in the following
information:
Workgroup/Domain: CENTRAL
Username: globalid
Password: your_password
- Drag the server volumes to the trash when you are done with them. This
disconnects you from the server, it does NOT delete all the files.
