Quick Guide - Using a Lecture Computer
This is for faculty and staff that have accounts with storage on the CST
Server.
- Prepare your PowerPoint presentation (or some other file) and save it to
your personal storage on the CST Server.
For Windows users, this will be your H: drive.
For Macintosh users, this will be the volume on your desktop named "globalid$"
- Upon entering the lecture room, enter the code on the Crestron panel (if
the room is equipped with one) to gain access to the podium.
- Open the podium and turn the computer on.
- When the computer is ready, you need to logon to the computer with your
globalid and password.
To get the logon screen, you will need to press the CTRL, ALT, and DEL keys
simultaneously.
The username is your globalid, the password is your current password, and
the domain is "CENTRAL".
- You are now ready to open your presentation.
On the desktop is an icon called "My Computer". Double-click this
icon.
Double-click the H: drive.
- Open your presentation by double-clicking on it.
- When you are done teaching, you need to logoff the computer.
← Very important!
Do this by clicking the "Start" menu in the lower left corner and pick
"Log Off".
If you are the last one to use the room, pick "Turn Off Computer" instead.
Tips & Notes
- Graduate students can transfer their files to the computers by using
burned CD's or USB Storage keys.
- Zip Drives are no longer a standard hardware item. All newer
lecture computers have no Zip capability.
- Do not leave files on the hard drive of the lecture computer.
These machines can be erased and re-setup at any time during the semester.
Your files will NOT be backed up before-hand.
