Jennifer Lee '08  

Jenny is a biology major at Vassar and started working in the Damer lab in the spring of 2006 and was an URSI fellow in 2006. She will be starting in a PhD program in cell and molecular biology at Harvard University this fall.

Emily Bruce '07  
Emily Bruce '07  

Emily was a biochemistry major at Vassar and graduated with the Phi Beta Kappa prize, Sigma Xi, and general and departmental honors. She began working in the Damer lab in her junior year. She also did her senior thesis in the Damer lab. She is currently on a Gates Scholarship at Cambridge and will be starting a MD/PhD program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine this fall.

Lilian Ho '07
Lilian Ho '07 Lilian was a biochemistry major at Vassar and started working in the Damer lab her sophomore year. She was an URSI fellow in 2005. She did her senior thesis in the Damer lab and graduated Sigma Xi with general and departmental honors in 2007. She is curently working for Teach for America in California.
Adam Goldman-Yassen '07  
Adam Goldman-Yassen '07   Adam was a biochemistry major at Vassar and started working in the Damer lab as an URSI fellow in 2005. Adam did his senior thesis research in the Damer lab. Adam graduated with departmental and general honors and was awarded the senior biochemistry prize. Adam is currently working as a technician in the lab of Lewis Cantley in the signal transduction division of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and interviewing for medical school.

Casey Ling '08   Casey is a biochemistry major at Vassar.

Marina Bayeva '06  
Marina Bayeva '06   Marina was a biochemistry and japanese double major at Vassar, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi with departmental and general honors in 2006. Marina began working in the Damer lab her sophomore year, was an URSI fellow in 2005, and a Merck fellow in 2006. She also did her senior thesis research in the Damer lab.

Currently, Marina is in a MD/PhD program at Northwestern University.

"I do miss the lab a lot, the fun nights of running gels, purifying proteins, or simply hanging out! It was my inspiration to become a scientist - here I learned to love research!"
 
Pamela Kim '06  
Pamela Kim '06   Pamela was a biochemistry major at Vassar, where she graduated Sigma Xi with departmental honors for the class of 2006. She was a Merck fellow in 2005 and did her senior thesis research in the Damer lab. Pamela is currently in medical school at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Emily Hahn '06   Emily was a Jewish studies major at Vassar, where she graduated with departmental honors in 2006. Currently she is a medical student at the University of Rochester Medical School.

Lauren Naliboff '05   Lauren graduated from Vassar in 2005 as a biology major. She began working in the Damer lab as an URSI fellow in 2003. She also was an URSI fellow in 2004 and did her senior thesis research in the Damer lab. She is currently a lab technician at Duke University and plans to go to medical school.
 
Catherine Socec '05  
Catherine Socec '05   Catherine graduated from Vassar in 2005 as a biology major. She began working in the Damer lab as an URSI fellow in 2003. She also was an URSI fellow in 2004 and 2005! She did her senior thesis research in the Damer lab. We don't know where she is or what she's doing!

Cerine Jeanty '05   Cerine was a political science major at Vassar and graduated with general honors in 2005. She is currently a medical student at Wayne State University Medical School.

Abigail Proffer '04   Abby graduated from Vassar in 2004 as a major in neuroscience and behavior. In 2003 she was an URSI fellow working in the Damer lab. Currently she is a medical student at Dartmouth University Medical School.

Laura Martin '03   Laura graduated from Vassar in 2003 as a biology major. She did her senior thesis research in the Damer lab. She is currently a medical school student at NOVA Southeastern University Medical School.
 
Javier Rivera '03  
Javier Rivera '03   Javier graduated from Vassar in 2003 as a double major in biology and Italian. He did his senior thesis research in the Damer lab and was an URSI fellow in 2003. He is currently a medical school student at New York Medical College.
 
Ellen Green '02  
Ellen Green '02   Ellen was a biology major at Vassar. She graduated Sigma Xi with departmental and general honors for the class of 2002. After trying to resist medical school for two years after college, she finally submitted and entered UMASS Medical School in the class of 2008. This week she is planning to become a primary care physician with a focus on reproductive health, but we will see what next week brings...

Elizabeth Ziegler '02   Elizabeth was a biopsychology major at Vassar. She graduated Sigma Xi with departmental and general honors for the class of 2002. She is currently a PhD student in the Cell and Molecular Biology program at Yale University.

Ellen Szydlowski '02   Ellen was a music major at Vassar (she's a clarinet player) with correlates in biology and chemistry. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi with departmental and general honors for the class of 2002. Ellen is currently a medical school student at Thomas Jefferson University.

Nana Hagan '02   Nana graduated from Vassar in 2002 as a biology major. He is currently a PhD student at the University of Massachusetts.
 
Kathryn Tifft '01  
Kathryn Tifft '01   At Vassar, Katie was a biology major and an URSI Fellow in 2000 (she was Dr. Damer?s first URSI student!). She did her senior thesis research in the Damer lab. Katie graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi with departmental honors in biology and general honors in 2001. After graduation, Katie received a fellowship to work in a Dicty lab at the NIH. Katie worked in Dr. Alan Kimmel's lab for a year before graduate school.

Currently, Katie is a fifth year graduate student in the Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology Department of Cell Biology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She works in Kathy Wilson's lab studying proteins of the nuclear envelope. One of their goals is to determine why loss of emerin, an inner nuclear membrane protein, causes Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy. Her current project is testing the hypothesis that emerin funcion is regulated by tyrosine phosphorylation.
 
Corey Pelletier '00  
Corey Pelletier '00   Corey was a biochemistry major at Vassar, where she graduated with departmental and general honors in 2000. She will be finishing her PhD in Molecular Cell Biology working in the Division of Molecular Oncology at Washington University in December 2006. She has already accepted a job with a consulting firm in St. Louis that does business specifically with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
