Marina was a biochemistry and japanese double major at Vassar, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi with departmental and general honors in 2006. Marina began working in the Damer lab her sophomore year, was an URSI fellow in 2005, and a Merck fellow in 2006. She also did her senior thesis research in the Damer lab.
Currently, Marina is in a MD/PhD program at Northwestern University.

Pamela was a biochemistry major at Vassar, where she graduated Sigma Xi with departmental honors for the class of 2006. She was a Merck fellow in 2005 and did her senior thesis research in the Damer lab. Pamela is currently in medical school at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

After trying to resist medical school for two years after college, she finally submitted and entered UMASS Medical School in the class of 2008. This week she is planning to become a primary care physician with a focus on reproductive health, but we will see what next week brings... |

At Vassar, Katie was a biology major and an URSI Fellow in 2000 (she was Dr. Damer?s first URSI student!). She did her senior thesis research in the Damer lab. Katie graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi with departmental honors in biology and general honors in 2001. After graduation, Katie received a fellowship to work in a Dicty lab at the NIH. Katie worked in Dr. Alan Kimmel's lab for a year before graduate school.
Currently, Katie is a fifth year graduate student in the Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology Department of Cell Biology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She works in Kathy Wilson's lab studying proteins of the nuclear envelope. One of their goals is to determine why loss of emerin, an inner nuclear membrane protein, causes Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy. Her current project is testing the hypothesis that emerin funcion is regulated by tyrosine phosphorylation. |

Corey was a biochemistry major at Vassar, where she graduated with departmental and general honors in 2000. She will be finishing her PhD in Molecular Cell Biology working in the Division of Molecular Oncology at Washington University in December 2006. She has already accepted a job with a consulting firm in St. Louis that does business specifically with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. |
