Oral Presentation Guidelines and Grading Template

Purpose: present a 4-7 minute oral analysis of a research article relating to
the poster project.
Evaluation: The presentation counts for a maximum of 4 points toward
the poster grade. I will assess
how well you cover the three main points below. Note that the second part of the
presentation has 5 subheadings.
Each presentation will have three main parts:
1) You must have a clear introduction stating your name, the article's
title, the author, and the journal it appeared. "Hello, my name is x, today I'm
going to talk about article x by Mary x. This article appeared in the
journal x."
2) Now give the main body of the presentation. This section will consist of
three parts and should take up 80% of the presentation:
 | What is the main purpose of the article?
|
 | Summarize the article. |
 | Why is the article important in relation to the project? Mention
specific examples. |
I should always know which of the three points above you are discussing.
Failure to clearly mention each step will result in a lower grade.
3) a clear conclusion summarizing your presentation's most important points. "In
this presentation I discussed article x by Mary x, the most important feature of this
article is x." This is the section to insert any personal opinion you have
about the article like, "How could you make me read such a dumb article?" Or
"this article relates to my life in that ...."
In addition to these points I will evaluate voice projection, eye contact, and how well
you stay within a 4-7 minute time limit.
