INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Completely fill out page 1 of this application.

2. Have a CMU faculty member fill out page 2 of the application.

3. Turn in the completed application along with an unofficial copy of your transcripts to the Math Department office (Pearce 214).

4. After reviewing the application and transcript, the Director of the Math Center will contact you to set up an interview.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To become a math tutor at the Mathematics Assistance Center, you must meet the following requirements:

• Completed college mathematics courses through Calculus II.

• Earned an A or A- in the majority of your math courses, OR obtain written approval from the faculty member referred to on page 2 of the application.

• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

TUTOR JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Ability to answer student's questions thoroughly.

• Ability to help clarify course material.

• Demonstrate problem-solving skills.

• Work through example problems with students.

• Attend tutor training sessions as necessary.
