Research Program and Goals:

My teaching interests have primarily been in lower division service courses in both mathematics and computer science. These courses serve a great need and are often challenging. In additions to papers and conference presentations, I have published two calculus study guides (multiple editions of each), assisted in multiple editions of the best selling trig book in the U.S. and coauthored five editions of a defining work in the transition to advanced mathematics field.

Selected Publications:

1. "Transition to Advanced Mathematics," (co-authored with D. Smith and M. Eggen), Brooks/Cole Publishing Co., Pacific Grove, CA. First edition: March, 1983, Second edition: January, 1986, Third edition: January, 1990, Fourth edition: January, 1997. Selected as a “Book of the Month” for Science Book Club, June, 1996. Fifth edition, January, 2001.

2. "Study Guide for Calculus, 2nd. Ed." (by James Stewart), Brooks/Cole Publishing Co., Pacific Grove, CA., vol. 1, November, 1991; vol. 2, Spring, 1992. Third editions: April, 1995. Fourth editions, July, 1999.

3. “Object Oriented Analysis Using a Toolkit” (co-authored with R. Lee and J. Kelsh), Proceedings of the 27th Annual Small College Computing Consortium, April, 1994, pp.126-135.

4. Wrote new applications and new sections for "Trigonometry with Applications", by Raymond Barnett for Wadsworth Publishing Co.; final copy editing. Third edition: January, 1984. Fourth edition: January, 1988, Fifth edition: March, 1991.

5. "Study Guide for Calculus and Analytic Geometry (by Mizrahi and Sullivan)," Wadsworth Publishing Co., Belmont, CA. First edition: March 1982, Second edition: December, 1985, Third edition: January, 1990.
