Richtmeyer Mathematics Scholarship
Dr. Cleon C. Richtmeyer, former Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, former Head of the Department of Mathematics, and a faculty member at Central Michigan University from 1924 to 1968, bequeathed a scholarship fund for students who major in mathematics. The fund will be used to award scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year to students who are eligible in either one of the two categories listed below:
Underclass: by the start of this semester, will have completed or be enrolled in MTH 132 and will have accumulated at least 15 semester hours of university/college credit but fewer than 30 semester hours of university/college credit.
Upperclass: by the start of this semester, will have completed or be enrolled in MTH 223 and MTH 133 and will have accumulated at least 30 semester hours of university/college credit. Renewal is possible for a student receiving an upperclass scholarship if the recipient maintains a 3.0 G.P.A. (3.5 in mathematics) and remains a mathematics major. This second year award will not be automatic and reapplication is necessary.
The actual amount of the scholarship will be determined by the available funds and the number of scholarships awarded.
Selection of students to be awarded this scholarship will be made by a committee composed of the Chairman of the Department of Mathematics and such other persons as the Chair may designate. The decision will be made on the basis of:
