The Department of Mathematics at Central Michigan University has received National Science Foundation funding to provide research fellowships for up to two years to collaborate with mathematics faculty on undergraduate research
PROGRAM: |
Three students will be selected for fellowships to conduct research beginning summer 2010, under the supervision of Professor Douglas Lapp. The students are expected to be involved in research throughout the following academic year with an option for renewal for a second summer and academic year. At the end of each summer a final report and a conference presentation are required. |
TOPICS: |
The topic to be studied will be in the area of Mathematics Education. |
DATES: |
June 1 - August 6, 2010. |
STIPENDS: |
Each student will receive summer support of $3800 and housing for summer. Travel money to make presentations at conferences will be provided. |
APPLICATIONS: |
Students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply. Applicants for this program should be first- or second-year students at CMU. Students need not be math majors but must be willing to commit to a program of study in mathematics while involved in this research Applications must be received by February 11, 2010.
