Courses Taught:

Introduction to Earth Systems, Earth Processes, Physical Geology, Physical Geology Laboratory,
Earth Resources

Research Program and Goals:

I study the pressure, volumetric, temperature, and chemical (PVTX) properties of fluid inclusions (droplets of fluid, magma, and gas trapped inside growing crystals) and minerals to develop a better understanding of volcanic and metallic ore forming processes. More recently I have begun to examine how hydrothermal fluids evolve and contribute to the deformation of rocks in aureoles surrounding large plutons and batholiths using the chemistry of minerals and fluid inclusions. As part-time analytical technician for the Geology Department, my responsibilities include operation and training of faculty and students on XRF, ICP-MS, and electron microprobe instruments. Additional aspects of my research involve the evaluation of materials designed to capture toxic metals from the environment.
