Courses Taught:

Physical Geology Lecture and Laboratory, Mineralogy, Petrology, Geochemistry, Electron Probe Microanalysis, Volcanoes and Earthquakes, Introduction to Environmental Studies, Critical Thinking in Science and Technology

Research Program and Goals:

My research integrates petrological, mineralogical and geochemical studies of igneous and metamorphic rocks. I am interested in several problems and several areas. Problems of interest include: 1) the evolution of the continental crust, 2) the relationship of the continental crust to the generation of silicic magmas and ore deposits, and 3) the interaction between magmas and wallrocks. Areas of interest include Michigan's western upper peninsula, igneous terranes in Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada, and the Adirondack Mountains of New York. In addition to these studies, I am utilizing geochemistry to solve environmental problems.
