Departmental AwardsIn addition to awarding Scholarships, the Department of Geology also evaluates its students on a yearly basis to make the following awards: Kristofferson Award - The Kristofferson Award
is named for Ole Kristofferson - one of the founding members of the CMU
Department of Geology - and was made possible by a generous donation
by
his family. The Kristofferson Award is given yearly to a student, chosen
by the departmental faculty, who has demonstrated great potential to
succeed
in a career in the geological sciences. Departmental Service Award - Awarded yearly
to a student who has demonstrated a sustained committment to serving
the
department through various avenues. Bailiwick Award - The following awards are made yearly to students who have shown exceptional performance or who show exceptional promise for success in a particular subarea of geology:
Our Student Organizations also make their own awards: Geology Club Award: no award in 1999-2000 W.A. Tarr Award - Awarded by the CMU Chapter of Sigma Gamma Epsilon to the member - chosen by SGE members - who demonstrates high potential for success and who exemplifies the goals and purposes of SGE. Tina Edwards received the 1999-2000 Tarr award. |
