Environmental Policy Concentration
The Environmental Policy concentration is for students who wish to work with environmental policy development or implementation in a business or government agency. If you are interested in a strong policy-oriented degree preparing you for a career where an environmental background would be beneficial, this concentration is for you. Additional requirements for the policy concentration include courses in industrial safety, marketing, public policy, and regulatory law. Electives are chosen from a variety of scientific and policy-related courses.
Environmental Policy is one of the concentrations available on the Environmental Studies Major at CMU. This concentration is for students desiring a strong policy-oriented degree preparing them for a career where an environmental background would be beneficial.
Students are required to take courses in ecology, conservation, chemistry, and geology as well as courses in economics, political science, and environmental law & regulation. Environmental Studies also requires that students take a second major in a related discipline. These two requirements ensure that each student's training includes both the breadth and the depth needed to tackle today's complex environmental problems.
