ENV 101 - Groups & Assignments - spring 2002
Instructions for Group Homework Assignments
Each group has an assigned role to play in the Community Forum that will take place at the end of the semester. The homework assignments are designed to provide you with an opportunity to get to know the other members of your group and to learn to work with them. The assignments will also help you learn more about the issues that will be addressed at the forum, so that you can argue your positions more effectively.
The reading material for some homework assignments is on reserve in the library. Look up: J. Matty / ENV 101. These can be checked out for 1 day at a time. For the first assignment, there is a separate folder (vertical file) for each group; check out the folder with your group's name on it. Note: The material on reserve for the Mentaba County Planning Commission is called Mentaba County Board of Supervisors ... (former name of this group).
Homework assignments should be completed by each group; for example, the Audubon Society group will do the homework together, the Rag Bond Paper Company will do the homework together,... Group members may all work together to complete an assignment, or individual members may each work on specific questions. Either way, each group will turn in one single report containing all the answers to the questions. Do not turn in the questions separately (or the group may not receive full credit).
Write the names of all the group members who contributed to the work on the cover page of the completed assignment. A single grade will be assigned for the report, and each group member will receive the same grade. If a group member did not contribute anything to the report, do not write that person's name on the report. Each group is still responsible for completing all the questions, however.
