The Department of Chemistry is an integral part of the classification
of CMU as a research intensive university. Housed in a 60,000 square foot
facility built in 1991, the Dow Science Building accommodates approximately forty undergraduate and graduate student
researchers through the connection of 20 faculty research
laboratories. The research interests of our faculty varies from the nano-technology research of
inorganic
and organic
faculty to the dendrimer and polymer
faculty studies, to the biochemists,
and to experimental and theoretical work of the
analytical
and physical
chemists. Across the boards we are committed to offering a program
that gives students the interdisciplinary training needed to compete in today's
job market.
CMU strives to be
a state and regional leader in building strong research teams with industrial
partners. Technology development comes in all shapes and sizes with
numerous partners ranging from the budding entrepreneurial company to the Dow
Chemical Company. Explore the links below for all that we offer and we
invite you to join us in achieving so much more.
