This training fulfills the requirement of the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services, Part 554,  Bloodborne Infectious Diseases.

Before initial work in the laboratory

Employees who work with human blood or blood products

Bloodborne Pathogens Awareness

This training is designed to create an awareness of the potential hazards associated with blood.

Annually

All employees  (Employees who have been trained to work with human blood are exempt.)

Bloodborne Pathogens Refresher

This training is designed to keep employees updated on any changes in the bloodborne pathogens program and to retrain them on the important aspects of the program.

Annually

Employees who work with human blood or blood products

Chemical Hygiene/Lab Safety

This training fulfills the requirement of the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services, Part 431,  Hazardous Work in Laboratories.

Before initial work in the laboratory

Employees who will be working with hazardous chemicals in a laboratory setting

Chemical Hygiene/Lab Safety Awareness

This training is designed to create an awareness of the potential hazards associated with chemicals in the laboratory.

Annually

Employees who work near the lab use of chemicals (Facilities Management employees, support staff, etc.)

Chemical Hygiene/Lab Safety Refresher

This training is designed to keep employees updated on any changes in the chemical hygiene program and to retrain them on the important aspects of the program.

Employees who will be working with hazardous chemicals in a laboratory setting

Emergency

This training reviews the University plan for handling various emergencies.

Fire Extinguisher

This training fulfills the requirement of the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services, Part 8,  Portable Fire Extinguishers.

This training is optional for all employees.

Radiation Safety

This training covers the requirements of the University Radiation Safety Program.

Before initial work in the laboratory

Employees who work with radioisotopes

Radiation Safety Awareness

This training covers basic radiation safety principles and emergency procedures for individuals who do not work with radioisotopes, but need to be aware of the location of use and the potential hazards.

Annually

Employees who work near radioisotope use (Facilities Management employees, support staff, etc.)

Radiation Safety Refresher

This training is designed to keep employees updated on any changes in the radiation safety program, and to retrain them on the important aspects of the program.

Respirator

This training fulfills the requirement of the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services, Part 451,  Respiratory Protection.

Before initial use

Employees who wear a respirator and/or who will be supervising the use of disposable dust masks

Respirator Refresher

This training is designed to keep employees updated on any changes in the respiratory program and to retrain them on the important aspects of the program.

Annually

Employees who wear a respirator and/or who will be supervising the use of disposable dust masks

X-ray Diffraction

This training reviews the University requirements for using X-ray diffraction.
