Maintaining Good Standing

As a member of the Science and Technology Residential College, you have agreed to fulfill several requirements. If you fulfill the requirements and attend mandatory meetings, you will maintain your good standing in the STRC. (Please see the STRC Requirements page for further details). However, if you fail to meet a requirement, there is a way for you to regain your good standing.

The first time you fail to fulfill a requirement, you will be placed on STRC probation. This means that you lose your good standing, and therefore, eligibility for privileged STRC activities. These activities include special field trips (such as Beaver Island and Chicago), Pre-Registration, picnics, and any other special events.
In order to be considered for reinstatement in STRC and to regain your good standing, you must do the following:
1.
Write a letter to the Academic Director explaining why you failed to fulfill the requirement and why you should be reinstated into the STRC. This letter should be received in ET 200 by the Director within two weeks from the time you failed to fulfill the requirement.
Please turn in your letter to Room 200 of the ET Building (College of Science and Technology Dean's Office).
2.
Make an appointment with the Academic Director to discuss your case.
Your letter must be received by the Academic Director before you can make an appointment.
Your situation will be examined individually. In most cases, you will need to make up for the deficiencies of your previous actions. If you fail to write your letter within the two weeks allotted time, and/or fail to meet with the Academic Director, you will be dismissed from the STRC.
Dismissal from the STRC means that you have lost all rights and eligibility. You will be removed from the STRC roster, and in some circumstances, may be removed from Woldt Residence Hall. Dismissed students are not allowed to reapply to the STRC and will not be allowed to live on the STRC floors in Woldt Residence Hall during the next academic year.

NOTE: If you decide to forfeit your STRC membership for good reason (for example, a change of major outside of the College of Science and Technology), there is a way for you to leave the STRC in good standing. Please write a letter to the Academic Director stating your name, the date, your reason for leaving, and your signature.
Please turn in your letter to Room 200 of the ET Building (College of Science and Technology Dean's Office).
Once your letter is received, your reason will be evaluated and you will be contacted with a decision. Please turn in this letter by the next requirement due date (such as when your next Advising Form or Participation Record is due) to avoid dismissal from the STRC.

Additional note: Any violation(s) of the Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities and Disciplinary Procedures or the Residence Hall Agreement will result in disciplinary action in accordance with university policy.
