What is a residential college?
It's an area of a residence hall designated for students with the same majors or academic interests.
Living in a residential college isn't mandatory in most cases - it's just one more option for you to consider when choosing where to live at CMU. If you select a residential college, you'll enjoy the benefits of shared classes, cooperative study groups, daily interaction with faculty members, career-related programs, field trips and more!

Why consider living in the STRC?
The purpose of the Science and Technology Residential College (STRC) is to provide an on-campus living environment that fosters the academic success of students pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Living in the STRC offers you the opportunity to participate in many activities that let you explore academic interests, including seminars, overnight field trips, research nights, and faculty-student dinners where you can learn about programs of study, internships and future careers.

Does it cost more to live in the STRC?
There are no additional fees for living in the Science and Technology Residential College.
