Residential College
The College of Science and Technology and the Office of Residence life invite you to join the Science and Technology Residential College (STRC).
The Science and Technology Residential College makes its home in Woldt Residence Hall with classrooms and lab buildings located nearby. The purpose of the residential college is to provide an on-campus learning environment that fosters the academic success of students pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
We offer a limited number of freshmen the opportunity to participate in the STRC. There are no additional fees for living in the Residential College.
Some examples of the opportunities that life in the STRC has to offer include:

Participate with students and faculty in academic trips to CMU's Beaver Island Biological Station and museum trips
gold-arrow
Learn about classes, programs of study, internships and future careers through faculty-student dinners and research nights
gold-arrow
Enroll in the same sections of classes as those in STRC

Form study groups
gold-arrow
Participate in early class registration
gold-arrow
Attend informal faculty workshops on many topics

Benefit from mandatory common quiet hours
There are also social events designed to help students connect with faculty, staff and peers, including:

End of the year banquet and awards program
In order the get the most out of the residential college experience, students need to see a department faculty advisor each semester, participate in a minimum number of academic, social and service activities each semester, and enroll in a minimum of six science, math or technology courses per semester.
 
Who should apply to the Science and Technology
Residential College?
Any student admitted to CMU who has an interest in the sciences, engineering, technology or mathematics is encouraged to apply. This includes students who intend to major in any of the fields listed here, or any of the teacher education, interdisciplinary or preprofessional programs in the college.

The Residential College is dedicated to helping you succeed in your science, mathematics, engineering and technology studies. You will live in Woldt Residence Hall with other students who have similar interests, and benefit from study groups and early registration for CST classes. You will participate in many activities that let you explore academic interests, including seminars, overnight field trips, research nights, and faculty-student dinners where you can learn about programs of study, internships and future careers.
