        Requirements

Transfer Application Dates

Students are encouraged to check with the engineering schools about required dates as these dates vary by institution, by no later then the end of the third semester.

Experience in the Field

There are no special requirements other than course work and grades.  Engineering students should not complete any internship or co-op courses while at CMU. The engineering program provides that experience possibility (optional) at the transfer institution and students should NOT take that kind of experience here at CMU as part of their pre-professional program.

Special Examinations & Required License

No special examinations are generally required for admission to the engineering school.  Additionally, you should graduate from an accredited engineering program.  The accreditation should be by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). During your senior year you should take the Engineering in Training (EIT) exam which is required prior to sitting for the Professional Engineers (PE) Exam sometime later in your career and after on-the-job work experience and with the recommendation of other professional engineers. Some of these requirements vary by the state you would be licensed in.
