The Engineering and Technology Building features extensive laboratory space for electronics, engineering, robotics, automotive systems and graphic arts. Opened in 1989, the ET Building provides students seeking technical experiences with a program and facility on the cutting edge of technology.
Facilities
Faculty and students at the College of Science and Technology have access to modern facilities and equipment to support their science and technology research activities.
The college's eight departments are housed in four buildings - the Engineering and Technology Building, Brooks Hall, Dow Science Complex, and Pearce Hall. Each building houses computer laboratories, classrooms, and lecture halls equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software. In addition, advanced computing facilities including several servers, hundreds of networked PC and Macintosh computers with broadband Internet access, and assorted peripheral equipment are provided to support both basic and advanced course work, research and instruction.
Specialized research facilities provide outstanding student access to advanced instrumentation, equipment and other resources that enhance creative study opportunities.

On-campus facilities
Engineering and Technology Building
This modern facility supports engineering and industrial technology programs, including state-of-the-art networked laboratories for CAD/CAM, robotics, automation, material processing, material testing, and manufacturing systems.

Brooks Hall
Brooks Hall houses the biology and geology classrooms and laboratories. The astronomical observatory, electron microscopes, and seismographs are a few examples of the wide variety of equipment available for student use.

Dow Science Complex
The Dow building provides modern research facilities and labs for geography, physics and chemistry. Students have access to highly specialized scientific equipment such as NMR and laser spectrometers.

Pearce Hall
Home of the mathematics and computer science programs, Pearce Hall houses specialized laboratories with hundreds of powerful computers for networking, multimedia and database applications, software engineering, and mathematics and statistics.

Off-campus facilities
CMU's off-campus facilities provide exceptional environments for field study. Veit's Woods, a short walk from campus, is used for ecological, hydrogeological, and botanical projects. Neithercut Woodland, a 252-acre woods located just 30 minutes north of Mount Pleasant, provides opportunities for formal and informal nature studies. The CMU Biological Station on Beaver Island in northern Lake Michigan offers unparalled opportunities for research and study in a unique ecological environment.

Specialized research facilities
The College of Science and Technology also maintains numerous specialized or interdisciplinary research facilities such as the Michigan Water Research Center, the Brooks Astronomical Observatory and the Geographic Information Center.
