The Michigan Water Research Center has several packages specifically designed for the study of lakes. Included in the package are water analyses for ammonium, nitrate/nitrite, total phosphorus, total dissolved phosphorus, pH/alkalinity, light, temperature, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, and chlorophyll a. The package does not include labor for collection of the samples, travel, boat use or on-site consultation. Although the MWRC offers a mail-in service, this is not recommended for the study of lakes, as some of the water samples need to be "fixed in the field" to prevent change in the components to be measured and others are measured by instruments. If after consulting the section of packages in the cost schedule, a suitable package is not found, one can be specifically designed for the client. A combination of services can be designed for groups such as lake association that have members who wish to have their home well water tested at the same time. The package does not include labor for collection of the samples, travel, boat use or on-site consultation. As in the lakes studies, a mail-in service in offered, but it is not recommended, as the client does not have the instruments or the chemicals to measure all of the elements. If after consulting the section of packages in the cost schedule, a suitable package is not found, one can be specifically designed for the client.

| The MWRC offers a package specifically aimed at the homeowner concerned with his drinking water. Included in the package are analyses for presence/absence of fecal coliforms, pH/alkalinity, hardness, nitrate, and chloride. The package does not include labor for collection of the sample, travel, or on-site consultation. As in the other studies, a mail-in service is offered and in this case is totally workable. This can be achieved by our supplying the collection bottles and instructions on collection of samples. An fee for postage and handling will incur. The other option is collection by one of the MWRC scientists.
