| The Black River is located in the southwest part of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan running through Van Buren and Allegan counties. There are about 18 tributaries that contribute to the Black River before it empties into Lake Michigan in South Haven near the South Pier Lighthouse. |
| A study was conducted in cooperation with Dr. Bob King and the Michigan Lakes and Streams Association. Water was analyzed for nutrient content and turbidity. |
