Center for Applied Research and Technology

The Center for Applied Research and Technology (CART) is a 300-acre area certified technology park designated by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as one of the eleven Michigan SmartZones. The Mount Pleasant SmartZone has been designed to attract and stimulate growth of high-tech businesses that require a synergistic relationship with a doctoral/research intensive university. The Center is located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan - just minutes from US-127.

CART was created as a joint venture between CMU, Middle Michigan Development Corporation and the City of Mount Pleasant. The 29,000 square foot facility is comprised of a 12,000 sq. ft. incubator facility with high-speed network access and contemporary office space, and a 17,000 sq. ft addition, completed in February 2007. The addition contains state-of-the-art chemistry and bio-level laboratories.

CART includes a research and incubator facility for entrepreneurial applied and technology-based companies, as well as extremely high-speed connectivity to the National Science Foundation's Research Network and the Internet.

Offices and suites are currently available for lease within the Mount Pleasant SmartZone incubator facility. Leases are structured to be flexible and accomodate the needs of growing technology firms.

State-of-the-art chemistry and bio-level laboratory space is also currently available for leasing by new businesses or researchers.
