About CST

The College of Science and Technology is the product of a long and rich history of science education at Central Michigan University.

Science, mathematics, engineering, and technology are potent forces in our society. Today, science and technology education at CMU involves more than 50 undergraduate and 12 graduate programs supported by eight departments, more than 200 faculty, and an ever-widening national reputation of academic excellence.

Academic program excellence

Academic programs are rigorous in technical preparation and broad in intellectual stimulation. Effective academic programs emphasize student research and experiential learning strategies as essential elements in the preparation of future leaders in the sciences and technology.

Dedicated faculty and staff

Caring faculty and staff guide student success. An exceptional faculty includes world class scientists, many of whom directly involve undergraduate and graduate students in their research.

Modern facilities

The college maintains the facilities and resources necessary for students and faculty to achieve their educational and research objectives. These include state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, instructional spaces, and research instrumentation.

Emphasis on student growth and preparedness

Throughout the college, students experience a learning environment that draws out their talents. Programs reflect contemporary needs for graduates in science and technology fields, enabling graduates to enter the professional workforce or graduate school prepared to meet the demands of these fields.
